New York Highlights - RESULTS

 

- The combination of Samantha Watson and Lanae-Tava Thomas was a lethal one for Rush-Henrietta as the upstate school won five events at the NYSPHSAA Indoor Championships on Saturday at Cornell. Watson won the 600-1,000 double. She overtook Suffern’s Kamryn McIntosh on the final lap of the 600 and won going away in 1:30.59 to 1:34.43. Watson also won the 1,000 in 2:51.33 while Section I rivals Alex Harris of North Rockland and Kaitlyn Ryan of Bronxville battled it out for second place, 2:53.92 for Harris and 2:53.95 for Ryan. Thomas won the 55 dash 6.94 to 6.99 over St. Anthony’s junior Halle Hazzard and also crushed everyone in the long jump with 19-4..75. Watson and Thomas also teamed up to steer Rush-Henrietta to victory in 4x200 relay.

 

- Fayetteville-Manlius senior Kaitlyn Neal broke the state meet record in the 3,000 meters with 9:29.85 in a sensational race that saw seven girls go under 10 minutes. Saratoga Springs’ Kelsey Chmiel broke the state freshman class record 9:41.73.

 

- Paul Robeson seniors Amanda Crawford and Alyssa Sandy also went out winners. Crawford won the 300 meters (38.81) and Sandy took the 55 hurdles in 7.99 seconds. The Robeson relays finished second (4x200) and third (4x400).

 

- Diana Vizza from North Shore won the 1,500 meters in 4:31.67. North Rockland’s Katelyn Tuohy lowered her own New York eighth grade class record by running 4:32.33 for second place.

 

- Mamaroneck won the girls 4x800 relay with 9:09.05. Suffern took the 4x400 in 3:58.34.

 

- Freshman Erica Ellis from Gates- Chili won the pole vault with a clearance at 12-3.

 

- Alexis Daniels from Binghamton won the shot put with 47-5.25. Monae Cooper of New Rochelle won the weight throw with 55-2.

 

- In the boys meet, Aidan Tooker from Saratoga Springs won the 3,200 meters in 9:03.81 on Cornell’s flat track.

 

- Kelly Brown from Wilson Magnet won the hotly contested boys 55 in 6.39 seconds. The top four finishers were separated by .03 seconds.

 

- Evan DeGraw from Union Springs won the 600 meters in 1:21.53.

 

- Junior Kevin Moshier of Corning won the 1,600 meters in 4:20.44.

 

- Huntington’s Inifinite Tucker won the 55 hurdles in 7.38 seconds and placed second in the long jump. He was also part of the team’s victory in the 4x400 (3:24.02).

 

- The PSAL’s South Shore came through in the boys 4x200 relay, taking the win in 1:30.47.

 

- Warwick Valley won the 4x800 relay in 7:54.07 to beat West Islip (7:55.45) and Fordham Prep (8:01.10).

 

- Rayvon Grey and Terrel Davis of Beacon swept the horizontal jumps. Grey won the triple jump with 49-6.50 and Davis took the long jump with 23-7.

 

- In the throws, Andrew Cannistraci of Iona Prep took the shot put with 62-0.75 and Cameron Thompson of Lakeland Panas got the weight throw with 67-6.

AND Lauren Harris (Sachem East) won the 1500m Race Walk in a US All-Time #3 time of 6:35.16, which is also the new Junior class record.
